About USA Softball
USA Softball is a 501(c)(3) not-for profit organization headquartered in Oklahoma City, OK, and is designated as the National Governing Body (NGB) of Softball in the United States and a member of the United States Olympic Committee. One of the nation’s largest sports organizations, USA Softball sanctions competition in every state through a network of 70 local associations and has grown from a few hundred teams in the early days to over 150,000 teams today, representing a membership of more than 2 million.  USA Softball is dedicated to providing people of all ages the opportunity to play the game they love at a variety of levels by offering recreational, league, tournament and competitive play for fast pitch, slow pitch and modified pitch.  USA Softball annually conducts thousands of tournaments throughout the country including over 100 National Championships.  The USA Softball umpire program is among the nation’s largest and are widely known as the best trained umpires in the game.

As the NGB for the sport of softball, USA Softball is responsible for training, equipping and promoting the six USA Softball National Teams that compete in events such as the Olympics, Pan American Games, World Championships and other international and domestic events. The Texas Amateur Softball Association is incorporated under the laws of the State of Texas as a non-profit organization whose objectives are to promote organized amateur softball in the State of Texas for all persons regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, or ancestry; to establish uniform softball rules and regulations that can be observed by all members; to educate and train in the proper skills of amateur softball play and rules by promoting, organizing, and conducting clinics, seminars, and training courses.

Texas USA is the area of Texas not located in the geographic area of Dallas, Ft. Worth, San Antonio, and Houston. These are called “metro” areas and each has its own USA organization that is responsible for the USA operation in that metro to the USA Softball Association of America.

USA of Texas is divided into Districts and each district has a District Commissioner that has total responsibility for the district assigned to them. Each of these District Commissioners may in turn appoint other district personnel such as Deputy District Commissioners, District Youth Commissioners, District Umpire-in-Chiefs, etc. to assist them in administering the USA of Texas programs.

USA Of Texas is comprised of a State Commissioner, President, State Youth Commissioner, State Umpire-in-Chief, State Intramural Commissioner and At-Large Player Representatives. The majority of these people make up the USA of Texas Executive Committee. Voting members of USA of Texas consists of District Commissioners, Deputy District Commissioners, and District Youth Commissioners.

USA of Texas conducts state-wide meetings every January and October. During these meetings the voting members establish rules, guidelines, bid and award state tournaments, and conduct other pertinent business matters that allow USA of Texas to be a success. The January meeting is dedicated to training ourselves to operate our program more efficiently.
